Rectangular electrodes are most commonly used in Low Definition tES applications as their larger surface area allow electrical current to be delivered to a much wider area of the scalp or body, limiting control over the distribution and direction of current. These electrodes are designed for use on both flat areas (such as the back and chest) and curved areas of the body (including the upper arm, forearm, thigh, and calf).
